My Chevy Truck site

Welcome to 68 Stepside's Homepage

This Web site features my truck. I know it's going to be a slow process, but eventually I'll get the whole site done, I promise!

My Truck

Over the past 5 years, I've had well over a dozen vehicles, and my truck is by far my favorite. She's a 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Short Wheel Base Stepside. I'm currently swapping in a small block 400, and it is going to be backed by a TH-350 for now, a TH-700R4 is in the works. On top is an Edelbrock Torker II intake, with a Holley 660 center squirter supplying the fuel for the beast. The truck has at least 114,000 miles, probably many more. Paint is probably next on thing on the agenda.

Why did I buy this truck?

Well, I have always loved the 67-72 Chevy truck body style, but have never found one to my liking. I've always wanted a stepside. In mid-April of 2000, I was on my way home from pulling overtime, it was a Saturday morning, and happened upon what is now my truck. The small dealer here in town had her sitting in the back row. Well, the following Monday, I stopped in and inquired. I looked the truck over, and found that it had minimal rust. The original 250 inline 6 was gone, and had been replaced by an old small block. The original 3 speed manual transmission was gone as well, replaced by a TH-350 automatic. I took her out for a drive, with the #4 intake lifter chattering all the way. But for some reason, I didn't care too much, and ended up buying the truck anyway. The tired old engine lasted until September, when the heater core nipple broke off out in the middle of nowhere, and she overheated. I let it cool down a bit, and drove home. By the time I got here, I had dropped a cylinder and was extremely angry. But, to my advantage (or so I thought at the time), my brothers father-in-law had a built 400 small block for sale. Now that brings us up to date....sorry for the long story.
